The Greenwood Village Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old in connection to the death of another minor at the Regional Transportation District's Dayton station in February.
Greenwood Village police detectives — along with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Denver Metro SWAT team — arrested Kaleb Witt, 18, on March 7 and an unnamed 17-year-old boy in Denver on March 11 in connection to the Feb. 11 shooting, according to a news release from the department.
"Multiple" firearms were also found at each of the suspects' residences, police said.
The two arrests mark the second and third suspects detained following the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Steve Abraham Carranza Maravilla and the assault of a 14-year-old boy at the light rail station at 4151 S. Dallas St.
Officers initially responded to the station around 3 p.m. Feb. 11 on reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, responders found Maravilla suffering from gunshot wounds and the boy injured from an "apparent assault," police said. Both were transported to a nearby hospital.
Maravilla died the next day.
"Neither victim appears to have ties to the City of Greenwood Village," the department said.
The first suspect, a juvenile boy, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder on Feb. 20.
Police said they do not believe there are any other suspects at large.
