We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about lotsa shows including Law & Order: SVU, FBI, Survivor and Alice & Jack!
1 | Should Saturday Night Live have cut one of its post-Weekend Update sketches — or perhaps Michael Longfellow’s Update piece — to get Papyrus 2 on air?
2 | So… did Alice & Jack just not have the budget to go to/even fake Cuba? Why tease that trip just to have them instead spend a staycation walking around their own city, having sad thoughts? And for a show that has spanned the better part of 15 years, does anyone but Celia look at all different?
3 | Knowing that the Masters tournament could easily run late, why didn’t CBS slot in a Tracker rerun that it could join “in progress,” and thus avoid having to cut the Billy Joel concert short (and the public shaming that came with it)?
4 | Did CBS’ casting department look specifically to The Conners this week for guest stars — what with Darien Sills-Evans (who recurred in Seasons 3 and 4 as Becky’s friend-with-benefits Mikey) showing up on Tracker as a police officer Sunday, and Maya Lynne Robinson (who co-starred as D.J.’s wife Geena) showing up on The Neighborhood as a birthing class instructor, just 24 hours later?
5 | On The Neighborhood, did Dave’s mispronunciation of ukulele (“UH-koo-lay-lay”) give anyone else Schmidt from New Girl vibes?
6 | On Bob Hearts Abishola, are we to believe Goodwin has saved enough money to buy MaxDot? Even for half the price the Japanese were willing to offer Bob, and paid out over seven years?
7 | Whose butt can Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant kick for leaving off the “C” in her job title during her NCIS cameo? (Speaking of Jane, did anyone else yelp aloud at home when on NCIS: Hawai’i she got walloped by that Ewok-like, tree trunk booby trap? She’s been through it!)
8 | Should TVLine’s Year in Review add a Best Grunting category, if only to give Shōgun’s Yabushige an easy win? Also, was Fuji’s iconic tea-sipping meme her “parting shot,” or might we see her in the finale?
9 | During FBI’s armored car heist, did you recognize the “John Wick hotel” location? Also, couldn’t Scola have wound up dead for not scouting out where the water glasses were kept in his fake townhome?
10 | Even with her mind clouded by grief, surely The Cleaning Lady’s Nadia would never really be so foolish as to burn a piece of evidence right there in her office, when any one of her adversaries could burst in at any moment, right?
11 | Is FBI: International‘s Tate (played by Christina Wolfe) giving “Kaley Cuoco meets Elizabeth Gillies”? And how great was it to see Raines go all John McClane, so soon after his injury?
12 | After inviting the entire cast of Young Sheldon to appear as guests, did the producers of The Jennifer Hudson Show seriously not prepare a single question for Lance Barber (aka George Sr.)?
13 | First Monarch: Legacy of Monsters gets multiple spinoffs, now For All Mankind gets one… which Apple TV+ series is up next for an offshoot?
14 | On Survivor, the second Tiffany started talking smack about Venus, did you think she would be the one going home? And where does Wednesday’s Tribal fall in the pantheon of absolutely bats–t Tribal Councils?
15 | Of all the continuity errors on The Conners, is Dan’s birthday — which in Roseanne Season 1 took place in January… then in The Conners Season 2 took place in December… then this week took place in April — the most obvious?
16 | On Star Trek: Discovery, how poetic was it that Burnham stopped her past self using the Vulcan pinch?
17 | If the Young Sheldon spinoff does, in fact, center on Georgie and Mandy living with Jim and Audrey, do you think they’ll use the same McAllister house set as seen in Thursday’s quasi-backdoor pilot? Or do you expect that they’ll rebuild the set for multi-cam, as they did the Cooper household for Young Sheldon (after a different house was shown in episodes of Big Bang Theory)?
18 | Ghosts fans, where do you think Carol has been hanging out during these past couple of episodes?
19 | Were you as gobsmacked as Farmer Wants a Wife‘s Brandon that Joy turned down a hometown date and peaced out?
20 | SVU viewers: Were you satisfied with how Maddie’s trial — a major thread for the first part of this season — played out?
21 | On Law & Order: Organized Crime, as much as we appreciated Jet’s insistence that she go with Bell to deliver the bad news to Sam’s wife, shouldn’t she have done… something other than stare while the pregnant woman wept and Ayanna comforted her?
22 | Did Elsbeth overdo it with its Gen Z ball girl “cooking” with alllllll the slang in every single sentence, “bruh”? And wouldn’t Blair Underwood’s character have conveyed more shock, at least privately, having not set out to KILL his son’s rival?
23 | Who has greater output: Tyler Perry (who saw eight of his ongoing series renewed this week at BET with another one on the way, on the heels of producing 700 episodes of TV over the past five years) or Taylor Swift (who on Friday surprised folks with a double album of 31 songs, with The Tortured Poets Department marking her ninth release — including “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings — since 2019)?

3. Millions of people in EST were angry about the Masters & Billy Joel…but millions of us on the West Coast had no problems, as usual. Can’t be that big of a deal for CBS.
Cutting off an international superstar singing his signature song on a heavily-promoted special IS a big deal.
And they could have made it three hours and cut at least seven songs including Sting singing Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
I mean they cut 7 songs
The SVU trial was overkill for me. I love this show still, and have no plans to stop watching, but the Maddie storyline was not a personal favorite of mine, went on too long, and to me shows that Benson is becoming problematic with how involved she gets. Mariska Hargitay is an amazing actress, and Benson is still an iconic character, but it is becoming a bit much. Also the new character, the FBI inplant.. if they want a profiler like George Huang, then bring Kelli Giddish back to fill that roll. I also feel they are minimizing Ice T’s role by bringing in another Captain, he is supposed to be second in command as Sergeant but feels hamstrung right now. Just my personal opinions.
They really pushed this story arc hard–maybe this was one episode too many of the story. They barely pulled it off, IMO.
Ice T is probably tired
#19: Finally, something about Farmer. No, it’s about time Joy left. There is no way she would have gotten her hands dirty on a farm. Saying she wanted to be “the little woman” and stay at home with the (she couldn’t even say kids) and take care of her man was so phony. She was there for the TV exposure only. As for the rest of them, I think there are zero romantic sparks this season. Very disappointed in the casting of the women this year. The only one that belongs on a farm is Sydney, and she would make a great hunting or fishing buddy, but not a wife. Only Ty has 2 good women left.
Everything about Joy is phony!! I’m just glad she did Brandon the favor of leaving. Good riddance!
10. Why did she even still have the card? We’d seen in a previous episode that she had the number in her phone under a fake name, so she was obviously aware of the danger of the card being found then.
10. Its quite normal for Nadia to have the card or even justify having it. She and Arman share the safe and were questioned by the feds multiple times Season 1 and 2 or from Hayek arresting time and she kept it. Question: Did Arman hide something in the car that ended in Thony’s house?
22. Elsbeth – both the show and the character – is really fun but wow, the mysteries are just *not* good, every episode to date has “wait, what about…? why didn’t they just…?” type questions by the end.
Yeah – it’s starting to get a little too formulaic too soon, especially the detectives who don’t seem to want to do their jobs at all. Also, why is the dad getting charged with murder when Elsbeth already worked out that the victim was accidentally giving drugs by two separate people who wouldn’t know that they kill someone if taken together? Was the girlfriend also charged with murder?
Yes. In subtitles it said that she was charged also. Or at the very least booked..charges pending.
It’s so formulaic! I understand why they renewed Elsbeth, but they really need to add some depth to the mysteries for it to survive. So Help Me Todd had the potential for long staying power, and I don’t see that with Elsbeth.
Re: Taylor vs Tyler. I guess you’d have to compare Tyler’s net worth when he was the age Taylor is now.
And adjust for inflation.
Taytay started as a millionaire
3 – exact question I asked my spouse
13 – has to be Ted Lasso, right?
18 – I’m hoping she found another well
23 – can ANYONE touch Taylor right now?
18 | Ghosts fans, where do you think Carol has been hanging out during these past couple of episodes?
~
Clearly the dirt. She’ll be the one to bring in Patience.
A girl can dream.
Maybe cast Anna Camp?
I’m excited for the Carol/Flower intro, though – we better get to see it!
On Family Guy, Brain time traveled to ancient Israel (time of Jesus) and everyone there spoke english ?
15) I hate birthday episodes in general. They don’t seem original (except The Simpsons “Lisa’s Birthday”, classic episode). It’s So and So’s birthday, lets have the plot revolve around that. “Friends” birthday episodes were never consistent ethier . Rachel had one in May another in February. Also wasn’t it Becky’s daughter Beverley Rose’s birthday in the episode before this. That was two birthday eps in a row for “The Conners”.
You’re fact-checking a show where a talking dog time-travels?
#6 If I recall, Goodwin also had a loan and investors to help him buy MaxDot.
#22- if a player dies and possibly murdered during tournament wouldn’t the tournament be postponed if not fully cancelled?
#5 not a mispronunciation, the actual Hawaiian dialect pronunciation.
7 – Shouldn’t Kensi be on maternity leave by now
15. The most recent change could be the fault of the writer/actor strikes? Perhaps this episode would have aired in December (or January) if a more usual schedule for the season had happened? There’s have been a lot of episodes that could have been Halloween or Christmas episodes that have aired in late winter/early spring this year.
December vs. January sounds like an air schedule difference too. Not like it went from January to July.
Regarding The Cleaning Lady, why in episode seven are so many people suddenly calling Arman Armando? And wasn’t Nadia’s casino blown up in a previous episode by Ramona to collect the insurance money, or was Nadia’s office and club in a different location?
That was Kamdar’s club that was blown up. Nadia inherited it when he died.
1. 100% YES. They should have shown Papyrus Pt2. Unless they were really banking on using this sketch to drive people to the SNL Social Platforms. Because it worked for me.
19 Carol is totally doing Crash somewhere. Wherever he hangs out when he is not seen.
19 – Not at all!! It’s been clear since the start that Joy is empty-headed. Reba was right!
I am just getting to it on DVR but my biggest burning question is how the hacker was able to get online on Alert? I can accept the unconventional charging up of the dead laptop when there was no power in the hotel, but wouldn’t any modems or wifi also not be working? I’ve been able to use my phone to search during a power outage, with the cellular service, but a laptop?
To my knowledge there was also no mention of hotspots, etc., and the storm would have prevented easily picking one up. I mean even the amount of candles in the hotel did not seem realistic, where was all this stuff stored?
Okay, they did at least mention a hotspot at the precinct but I still don’t buy that there was both one in the room of someone who can’t have a laptop unless it’s brought to her.
Comparing Taylor & Tyler is apples and oranges. Although I would love to see Taylor start a production company and produce films about stories that must be told. I feel like it would be cool if she learned from Reese Witherspoon about producing TV shows & films because she has the money and fan base that will watch what she puts out. And since she’s big in the teen market I feel like she should start out with young adult stuff. Why not diversify when you have the means to do so.
Because it would hurt her brand.
13. Is mythic quest still getting a spin-off?
14. I don’t see what all the scrambling was about on Survivor. They came in planning to vote one person out. They voted him out. Q threw a wrench into things by saying he should go, but really, I felt like all that drama was about nothing.
12. I watched the show. He was asked a question. If that didn’t make it to the online version, I have no idea why, but he wasn’t ignored on the show.
Both Tyler and Taylor need to chill.
Conner are nothing but in continuity’s…I never expect them to remember anything from Roseann era
Survivor…that was either the dumbest move by Q. Or smartest. Nobody will vote him off now. Plus he knows where loyalty is now.
Elsbeth. It’s ok. It is the same episode over and over just famous actors playing bad guy.
