An American Airlines plane from the Turks and Caicos Islands was inspected by the FBI and police at Philadelphia International Airport Friday evening due to a bomb threat, officials said.

A spokesperson for the FBI said they were made aware of a bomb threat to American Airlines Flight 1738 after it departed from Providenciales International Airport at 3 p.m. Friday.

The flight safely landed at Philadelphia International Airport at 6:26 p.m. and was met by FBI officials and Philadelphia police officers, investigators said. SkyForce10 was over the scene as passengers and crewmembers deplaned while the responding officers and FBI officials searched through the aircraft.

The scene was then cleared and the airplane returned to the terminal after investigators determined there was no credible threat, officials said.

The FBI will continue to investigate to identify the person or people responsible for making the threat, according to officials.
