FBI: Nebraska, Iowa residents targeted with bitcoin scam
The Omaha Division of the FBI says suspicious emails are circulating throughout Nebraska and Iowa asking residents to obtain and pay in bitcoin to avoid harm to them and their families.The emails are not credible and are a scam, FBI officials said in a news release."The FBI takes these allegations very seriously," Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kristi Johnson said in a statement. "We are aware of this situation and ask anyone who may be receiving this type of email to let us know through IC3.gov so we can properly handle it."Those who have received said emails or phone calls can file a complaint through the FBI's internet crime complaint center at www.IC3.gov.
